In this article, we discuss some of the best ways to achieve healthy weight loss during the spring season. Enjoy!

Healthy Weightloss for Spring- Best Tips for Shedding Excess Pounds During the Spring Season.

1. Stay Active

The gloomy weather is over and now enters beautiful sunshine and fresh air. Is there a better time to start your morning runs, walking or jogging? Of course not!

This is the perfect time to get moving. In fact, spring is considered the best time of the year for walking. Take jogs, walks, or run and you’ll see how easy it will be to shed those excess pounds. Plus the heat will help you burn more calories!

Apart from exercise, make sure you stay active all the time. At home, get busy with spring cleaning or even garden work. Staying active will help you lose weight even quicker.

2. Eat more Fruit and Leafy Green Vegetables

Spring is the season when fresh fruit and green veggies are so abundant and healthy too! There are all sorts of sweet berries and healthy greens that you can turn into delicious smoothies or salads.

The good thing about most fruits and vegetables is that they contain less calories and are chock full of healthy nutrients. Research also indicates that eating more leafy greens and fruit helps lower your insulin levels, which helps burn fat.

In addition to exercising, make sure that almost half of your plate is filled with fresh fruits and veggies. Fruits and vegetables are packed with healthy fiber which apart from helping move things along in the digestive tract, fiber also helps you feel full longer, so you eat less.

3. Control your Portions

Now that spring is here, you might assume that because you’ll be working out on a regular basis, there won’t be any need to control your food portions. Wrong! The weight you’ve gained over winter is frustrating enough. Don’t make it worse by eating excessively. Even if you’re eating healthier foods, portion control is crucial. We all know that most fruits contain a lot of calories, so be sure not to go overboard.

The trick is, ensure that at least half your plate contains fruits and vegetables. The other parts should contain good quality protein and a few carbs. Also, make a habit of serving your food on smaller plates as you’ll eat less using this strategy.

4. Avoid Junk Food at All Cost

It’s bad enough that you probably spend most of your winter relaxing on the couch in your pajamas binge watching TV as you snack on unhealthy foods. As a result, you’ve gained a weight, and your tummy seems to be showing the weight gain the most. Don’t let this trend continue.

Avoid junk food at all cost! As we stated earlier, with spring comes all sorts of fresh foods that are not only delicious, but are also loaded with healthy nutrients. You will reach your weightloss goals faster if you ditch junk food and focus on healthier options.  One strategy to help with this is a pantry purge.  Go through your pantry and throw away all of the unhealthy options.  And, commit to not buying more during your next trip to the grocery store.

5. Drink More Water, and Green Tea

It’s normal to feel less thirsty during winter than spring or summer. So you will find yourself drinking less water and other cold drinks. During spring, your body is now craving hydration due to the warm weather and especially due to increased activity.

Be sure to drink at least 2 litres of water every day. Besides being 100 percent calorie-free, water helps your body burn more calories, not to mention suppressing your appetite if consumed before meals.

You’ve probably also heard about the positive effect of green tea on weight loss. Green tea is a powerhouse of a powerful compounds known as EGCG. EGCG has been linked to increased fat burning, appetite suppression, as well as weight loss. So be sure to drink plenty of green tea this spring for healthy and faster weight loss.

6. Get Plenty of Sleep

Getting adequate sleep is one of the most important factors for weight loss. Without enough sleep, you might end up gaining a lot more weight than you can imagine. In fact, the National Institutes of Health and other research organizations have long confirmed that people who suffer from frequent sleep deprivation are at a greater risk of becoming obese and developing other chronic diseases.

Make sure you’re getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep every single day- not less. Besides preventing weight gain, getting adequate sleep will also improve your productivity at work or home and greatly reduce stress.
